More than just a spicy twist to Afuri ramen

AFURI kara kurenai is a powerful way to introduce another facet of Japanese food culture to the world. The ramen incorporates a blend of spices that you not only taste—but feel. The naturally occurring chemicals in peppers can impact the mind, body, and soul in a multitude of positive ways. At kara kurenai each dish is carefully crafted with consideration to both the medicinal benefits and flavor.

THE FIRST KARA KURENAI OUTSIDE OF JAPAN

kara kurenai is just one more way for AFURI to continue their mission of connecting people across the globe through the shared experience of eating ramen. For those that love ramen and spicy food, the first AFURI kara kurenai outside of Japan in Portland Oregon is a must visit.

YUZU Kara Kurenai Ramen

A refreshing and flavorful “Spicy, Sour, and Umami” Ramen to crave through all seasons

Kara Kurenai’s signature spicy ramen has a customizable spice level and a “Spicy, Sour, and Umami” flavor profile with a complex, layered spiciness, rich umami, and a refreshing sour citrus flavor. Each component has been thoughtfully prepared with high-quality natural ingredients and carefully assembled into each bowl of ramen.

Kara Kurenai Tsukemen

Kara Kurenai also features a signature Tsukemen—a brothless dipping ramen—with a customizable spice level. Thick noodles and a rich dipping sauce are the two defining components of tsukemen.

The dipping sauce has that same rich “Spicy, Sour, and Umami” flavor profile as the ramen. To ensure not a drop of this rich sauce goes to waste “wari soup” is provided at the end of the meal to mix with the remaining dipping sauce.

The noodles are AFURI’s signature handmade noodles with a blend of two types of domestic wheat flour and durum flour. In a process unique to kara kurenai the noodles are kneaded with Japanese sansho pepper to infuse them with a fragrant “tingling” spice. The result is a unique, springy, chewy texture that defines these low-water-content handmade ramen noodles.
